Fiskardo – The Elegant Jewel of Northern Kefalonia
If you’re looking for charm, history, and a touch of luxury all wrapped into one picturesque seaside village, Fiskardo is the place to go. Nestled at the northern tip of Kefalonia, Fiskardo is often described as the “St. Tropez of the Ionian”—and for good reason.
Unlike many other towns on the island, Fiskardo was spared from the devastating 1953 earthquake, which means its traditional Venetian architecture still stands proudly today. Colorful houses with wooden shutters, flower-filled balconies, and narrow stone-paved alleys give Fiskardo a timeless, romantic atmosphere.
The harbor is the heart of the village and it’s simply magical. You’ll see luxury yachts, sailboats, and traditional fishing boats bobbing in the crystal-clear water, all framed by elegant cafes, tavernas, and boutiques. Dining here is a highlight—whether you choose fresh seafood by the water or a cozy restaurant tucked into the village, the setting is unforgettable.
Fiskardo is not just for sightseeing—there’s so much to do:
Everything You Need to Know
Living on a greek island
Actually, I didn’t know I would end up studying in Kefalonia.
The Department of Media and Communication is located on the island – something I only found out after being accepted. When I realized I had to move to Kefalonia, it honestly felt like a dream. I had never even heard of this place before!
So I started searching for it on the map, googling pictures, and scrolling through TikTok – and suddenly, I kept seeing people say that Kefalonia is one of the most beautiful islands in Greece. That’s when the excitement really kicked in.
But moving here wasn’t all sunshine and ease especially when it came to finding a place to live.
